The Absolute Introduction

Updated: Mar 21, 2021

Miracles aren't just for prophets of old and Lizzie McGuire in Rome. Check out how our podcast began.

By some miracle, we just haven't gotten married.

Have there been boys in the past? Sure. Dates? Plenty. Tears? Too many. Having grown up in the church, we have both been taught how we need to be married (sealed in the temple, ehm), in order to make it to the highest tier in the celestial kingdom, our heaven. Often our individual worth has been tied to the idea of having a man slip that special, sparkling ring on our fingers.

Except as we've gotten older, we realized that can be a problem. We are more than the hand that we hold. In the recent years, we have come into our own to discover a couple of truths that have helped us become happier

  1. Being single is not bad

  2. No one can take our worth away

  3. We need to share this with others

Action Was Required

So we began a podcast! Funeral Potatoes for the Singles Ward was born November 2019 in an apartment in Orlando, Florida. We didn't have much of a plan in mind, no strategy or goal. All we knew was that we wanted to reach out to singles around the world (and if you're with someone, well, you are MORE than welcome also) to help them come closer to Heavenly Father and be able to move past the shallow constructions in church culture that threaten to swallow our happiness.

“‘Soul mates’ are fiction and an illusion; and while every young man and young woman will seek with all diligence and prayerfulness to find a mate with whom life can be most compatible and beautiful, yet it is certain that almost any good man and any good woman can have happiness and a successful marriage if both are willing to pay the price.” -President Spencer W. Kimball

Do we only talk about being single? No. Do we only talk about dating and marriage and boys? Please, no.

We are here to tackle EVERYTHING we could possibly want to talk about. From true crime podcasts to The Bachelorette, from True to the Faith and how to support loved ones leaving the church, we want to talk about the good things, the bad things, the taboo things, and everything in between. There is so much we want to talk about and so much that we want to share with you.

So tune in and catch up with us as we develop our own faith, strive to grow closer to our Heavenly Father, and laugh along the way.
